Organised by the Association of Brotherhoods, Holy week in Villena has a long running tradition which is more than five hundred years old, according to the preserved texts.

Holy Week starts in Villena on the Friday of Sorrows, where the figures are taken to the Arcedianal de Santiago church, from where the procession of the seven brotherhood starts. The procession that represents the encounter between Our Lady of Solitude and Our Father Jesus, is particularly moving and culminates in the singing of a saeta (traditional Easter religious song).
